Athlete Coach Services Coordinator
(Marketing, Communications)
Athlete Coach Services Coordinator at the Canadian Sport Institute
An active West Coast lifestyle has been a part of Kendra’s world for her entire life, having been born and raised right here in BC. She was active in sports growing up and competed in soccer, softball, volleyball, dance, and basketball some of which she continues to play in adult leagues today. After she graduated from Brentwood, Kendra went to Capilano University with a Volleyball scholarship, then Vancouver Island University and Royal Roads University completing a BA in Professional Communications.
While in University she completed a practicum with the Canadian Public Relations Society on Vancouver Island. She created a social media strategic plan for this non-profit organization and continues to network with this society today. It was during this time that she found that some of her work could be completed remotely away from an office and the usual 9-5 Monday to Friday jobs. This sparked an immediate interest for her and she continues searching for career paths away from a desk job.
Her next contracts involved working as an event manager, marketing and public relations strategist and Social Media coordinator all with elements of remote work. This suited Kendra as she had begun the #vanlife lifestyle.
Her current one year contract finds her working as the Athlete Coach Services Coordinator at Canadian Sport Institute Pacific. Some of her role involves event coordinating, assisting with the coordination of all communication materials, managing sport education and the Podiumcast podcast, and is the partnership manager. In this role she is assisting some of Canada’s aspiring Olympic and Paralympic athletes, conducting podcasts with current and retired Olympians/Paralympian’s, coaches, and experts.
Kendra is currently keeping an eye out for her next career path as her contract will expire at the end of the year. She will be drawn to those jobs that offer remote work opportunities, travel components and that allow her to put her stamp on them.
