Child, Youth & Family Support Worker

After graduating from Brentwood in 2011, Natalie continued her education at the University of Victoria where she graduated with a degree in Child and Youth Care in 2015. Her focus was on becoming a Child Life Specialist, but while gaining more knowledge and experience she found her passion working with children, youth and families with special needs.

Natalie accepted her first job in 2015 as a Child Development Worker and moved to Victoria in 2017 to work as a Child, Youth and Families Support Worker. Both jobs focused on providing support for children and youth and their families with special needs. The individual and group programs provide opportunities for the participants to connect and gain more personal experience around socialization and life skills. She facilitated the programs through play and activities based on individual goals developed in collaboration with the families. Natalie has development more experienced through volunteering at a recreational camp that supports families affected by cancer, and has been supporting all ages through a nature-based adaptive program called Power to Be. Natalie’s career focuses on inclusion, self-regulation, and adaptive programming.

Currently, Natalie is the Regional Coordinator at Canucks Autism Network in Victoria and is a School-Based Child and Youth Support Worker at an art based elementary and middle school.
