After graduating from Brentwood College in 1985, Bea continued her education at Carleton University in Ottawa, studying Criminology. After two years in the eastern cold, Bea transferred back to British Columbia to finish her degree at Simon Fraser University.

Bea then traveled overseas, where she attended University College London and completed her LLB in 1993. Bea was a member of the Law Society of England and a Member of Middle the Temple of Court. Upon returning to Canada in 1993, Bea completed her Accreditation at the Law School at the University of Victoria. Bea articled with the Ministry of Attorney General, Legal Services Branch and was hired, upon call to the bar, as a Crown Prosecutor.

Bea left the prosecution service in 1998 and has since been self employed. She practices as a trial lawyer with her areas of practice including trial work in criminal law, family law and general litigation.
