Program Manager at Microsoft @Seattle HQ

Ray was born in South Korea and grew up in both Korea and Japan. During middle school, Ray came to a Canadian summer camp to learn English and loved the experience so much so that he ended up staying in the country to attend Brentwood.

After graduating from Brentwood in 2008, Ray pursued his interest in math and attended the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in statistics. Upon graduation, Ray looked to broaden his sales skills and worked as a door-to-door salesman, selling merchant payment processing machines to local small businesses in Vancouver. After a brief tenure, with an intention to sharpen the technical skills, Ray went on to complete a Bachelor of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia.

At UBC, Ray was encouraged to explore coding as a career, and so he completed two internships as a Software Developer at Visier and as a Data Scientist at Black Duck Software. During this time he also launched his own side business with his partner (now fiancé, who is also a Brentwood alum), with a stall at the Richmond Night Market. Their core products were reverse umbrellas and cartoon character seat-belt covers.

Through this diverse experience, Ray came across an opportunity to work at Microsoft and is now working as a Program Manager in the Seattle office. As a Program Manager, Ray oversees the engineering support program for Microsoft's enterprise customers.
