Class of 2016
Hope House
Sophia graduated from Brentwood College School in 2016 before pursuing her undergraduate studies at Queen’s University. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Health Studies in 2021, along with a minor in Gender Studies. During her time at Queen’s, she developed a strong interest in rehabilitation, accessibility, and the role meaningful occupation plays in people’s lives. These interests ultimately led her to the field of Occupational Therapy.
In 2021, Sophia moved to the U.K. to begin her Master’s in Occupational Therapy at the University of Brighton. She graduated in 2023 and started her career in the National Health Service (NHS), completing two clinical rotations. One in an acute setting and another in complex physical rehabilitation. Her work within the NHS exposed her to diverse clinical environments and strengthened her confidence as a new healthcare professional.
After returning to BC in September 2024, Sophia began the process of transitioning her U.K. qualifications. Throughout this period, she worked as a Rehabilitation Assistant in both a long-term care facility and at Cowichan District Hospital, allowing her to maintain hands-on clinical skills while adjusting to the Canadian healthcare system.
More recently, Sophia has stepped into her role as an acute Occupational Therapist at Cowichan District Hospital, where she supports patients experiencing significant changes in health and helps them regain independence, function, and confidence as they return to meaningful occupations.
