Founder and Lead Audiologist, Resonance Hearing Clinics
Hello! My name is Dr. Terence Miranda and, as an Audiologist, I practice hearing healthcare within Resonance Hearing Clinics here on the south part of Vancouver Island. Practicing Audiology in my own clinics is a career that I really love and I feel that I have found what I was made for. Our sense of hearing is important and often taken for granted until there is a problem. Helping people by solving hearing issues is deeply gratifying for me.
In high school I enjoyed math, science, and economics and picked engineering as my undergraduate. I graduated from Queen's with a Geological Engineering degree and then worked as a Reservoir Engineer with Imperial Oil in Calgary where I qualified for my P.Eng. designation. After two years at the Calgary head office, I was promoted to a field research position in Cold Lake, AB. The story of how and why I went from Cold Lake to owning a group of hearing clinics is part of what I want to share with you.
Audiologists are trained at the Master’s or Doctoral level to assess, treat and educate the public on hearing and balance disorders. I will provide an overview of how the ear works and our sense of hearing. I'm hoping to have some of my equipment set up so you can see what the inside of an ear looks like. We’ll go over the range of settings an Audiologist may work in and my typical day as a private practice Audiologist. I’ll also discuss why I think the profession of Audiology will endure and evolve through technological change and disruption.
