Mechanical Design Engineer at Tesla Inc
I currently work as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Tesla Inc. on the Structures team, within the Drive Units group. Our group designs the electric motor and gearbox assembly, which we call the "drive unit" for all Tesla vehicles. The structures team is responsible for the layout of all the components (motor, gears, inverter, bearings) and own the cases/mounts which hold it all together and connect it to the vehicle. Prior to Tesla, I worked in Vancouver at Ballard Power Systems as a design engineer developing fuel cell power modules for fuel cell-hybrid electric buses/trucks. I have also worked shortly in wind power, thermal energy storage and carbon capture areas at some startup companies. I have a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from UBC, with a thesis in PEM fuel cell catalyst degradation. My undergraduate degree is from Queen's University, where I was the captain of the Baja SAE team. The team designs, builds and races a single seater dune buggy against teams across North America.
