General Dentist/Owner, Dahlstrom Dental
Joey Dahlstrom is a general dentist in the Cowichan Valley and has been practicing since 2000. She performs all aspects of dentistry on patients aged 1 to 101! Becoming a dentist was Joey’s ambition from the age of 10 after her many positive experiences with both her family dentist and her orthodontist. Following her graduation from Brentwood in 1991, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Microbiology at UBC. In 1996, Joey was accepted into the UBC Faculty of Dentistry. With its position at the forefront of research that spanned forensics, dental materials and oral cancer detection, UBC was a dynamic and exciting place to study. An oral detection device developed at that time is one that Joey continues to utilize in her practice today. During her training, she had the opportunity to volunteer at the REACH Community Health Centre in Vancouver as well as a three week Dental and Medical mission trip to Benin, West Africa. Upon graduation, Joey joined the practice of her childhood dentist in the Cowichan Valley and also worked at the Federal Penitentiary, William Head, near Victoria, BC. After five years of excellent mentorship and guidance, she opened her own dental clinic, Dahlstrom Dental, where Joey continues to practice today, keeping her patients and their smiles in top form. It is an exciting time in the profession where many new emergent technologies are advancing the forefront of dentistry. Some of these aspects that Joey continues to develop in her practice include advanced restorative techniques, digital imaging and modeling for smile design. With continuing education and improvement being an important focus for Joey, she participates in study clubs from both the KOIS (of which she is a graduate) and SPEAR centres, as well as RV Tucker Gold group.
