Technical Program Manager at Google LLC
Bo’s meandering career took many twists and turns, not always knowing where it was going, but eventually landing him in a role that manages to fuse all the interests he picked up along the way. In some ways it is reminiscent of Bo’s childhood, which entailed meandering on a sailboat for 14 years circumnavigating the globe (almost) prior to Brentwood.
Following Brentwood, Bo attended the University of British Columbia for a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Naval Architecture (naturally). Failing to find a job in Naval Architecture after graduation, Bo instead landed in HVAC Technical Sales for commercial kitchens. A year and a half later and unfulfilled with the role, Bo quit everything and went backpacking around South East Asia for twelve months.
Bo returned to Vancouver determined to pivot his career back to engineering. Catching a lucky break, Bo landed a role as a product design engineer of dive computers for scuba diving at Shearwater Research and later developing 3D laser profilometers for factory inspection at LMI Technologies.
Around this time, Bo once again attended the University of British Columbia, this time for a Masters in Business Administration. Attaining the MBA was the springboard his career had been waiting for, and it landed him a job at Google, where he had applied 5 times previously, to no success.
He’s currently working for Google on Project Starline building the future of communication as a Technical Program Manager, a role which wonderfully marries engineering, operations, strategy and execution.
