Shepherdess, Grower and Designer
I spent 4 years taking general studies at SFU and then discovered Ryerson and the Fashion program. I focused my attention 110% on applying there and studied there for 4 years. I started my masters in Landscape Arch. I also did my Waldorf teacher training when I was pregnant with my first child and I’m now studying Sustainable Ranching at TRU.
I am a designer of technical outerwear and have earned many awards including Gear of the Year and Polertec Apex awards. I earned product awards while designing for TNF and Patagonia. I am a pioneer in the realm of high-performance technical apparel. Though much of my career has been spent innovating synthetic fabrics and cutting edge construction techniques, I am now passionately focused on the use of high-performance natural fibers and small-scale domestic manufacturing.
In 2019 I became more intimately aware of our climate crisis and how grazing animals can be used to restore soil health while sequestering carbon.
I live on Bowen Island and my farm is called Morningstar Woollen. I’m currently launching a line of knits grown and processed in BC and farming BFL sheep, low till flowers and pasture poultry.
