Owner and Head Coach at Rolla Skate Club
In 2015, Carla Smith left an award-winning career as an Architect, having worked in Boston and Vancouver for 14 years in the field, to pursue entrepreneurship. It started with "Roller Derby Athletics," where she helped roller derby athletes kick more ass through safe and effective cross-training programs, delivered through video-based web portals and eventually an app. In 2018 she teamed up with a fellow roller derby entrepreneur, Lucy Croysdill of Pivotstar (alternative athletic apparel) to launch Rolla Skate Club, a bad-ass community of empowered rollerskaters. Rolla Skate Club now occupies a 20,000 square foot historic building at the PNE called Rollerland, and has over 300 members attending roller skating classes for youth and adults, as well as sold out weekly Saturday Skate Nights. Carla is passionate about leadership, building community, and helping adults to unlock new skills and challenges.
