Archivist for Brentwood College School and Queen Margaret School
Carey Pallister’s passion for history, art, genealogy, architecture, and research started long before she became an archivist. Growing up as a Third Culture Kid in Rome, Italy, she was surrounded by the daily reminders of an ancient civilization that shaped and inspired her. Carey speaks four languages.
For over 30 years Carey has worked as an archivist in military, municipal, religious and school archives. Since 2017, she has been the school archivist at Queen Margaret’s School where she was able to create their archives from the ground up. Carey believes that archives should be places of learning and successfully garnered the support of QMS to make the archives part of the school curriculum as well as starting a Junior Archivists Club. Carey is an alumna of The University of Calgary and the University of Victoria.
In addition to her commitment to keeping history alive and sharing knowledge, Carey has co-authored a book on BC architects and architecture as well as numerous articles on Victoria history. When she is not archiving, Carey creates art in several different media, assists others with historical research and genealogy research and runs a charming Airbnb in the Cowichan Valley’s thriving tourism scene.
