Julie Hawrishok combines content, community and cause as a professional fundraiser and non-profit communicator.

After graduating from Brentwood in 1999, Julie attended Carleton University in Ottawa where she earned a Bachelor of Journalism (Honours) with a minor in Mass Communications. She started her media career working as a journalist, photographer and content creator for a number of print and online publications, focusing primarily on business news and personal profiles.

Realizing the impact that storytelling has on a community, Julie took her skills and experience to the charitable sector, first in marketing and communications roles and later in development and fundraising positions. By sharing stories of need and impact through multi-channel outreach strategies, Julie has been able to connect with donors across the country. She has helped to raise philanthropic gifts ranging from $5 to $1 million.

Julie has worked with many non-profit organizations including the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, Roberts/Smart Centre, the Paralympic Foundation of Canada and, most recently, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ottawa.

She is currently based in Ottawa and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
